Marketing, Promotions and Press Interns

The Brighton Synergy Centre will soon be opening the main venue at the Centre complex, a large 1000 capacity space ideally suited to become the leading medium sized live music venue in the City. We are looking to recruit a number of interns / volunteers to be part of the marketing and promotions team.

In the autumn / winter, we are hoping to resume hosting a series of large ‘Synergy Project’ indoor festivals, featuring a wide variety of partners from Brighton and further afield. The events will feature a wide range of artforms, ranging from DJs, live bands, poets, dance performance, video installations and visual art as well as stalls, debates and discussions hosted by local and national non-governmental organisations working in the field of sustainable development, social justice ethical and healthy living.

To assist with the marketing and promotion of these events, Synergy are seeking enthusiastic, personable interns to form a Promotions and Marketing team. The interns team will report to our Promotions and Marketing Manager and be responsible for delivering the following outcomes:

Flyer distribution (to public and local businesses)

Poster distribution (to local businesses)

Liaison with local press and media to generate coverage of Synergy events.

Market Research / Sample Group (via feedback to Promo and Marketing Manager)

Brand Ambassador (representing Synergy Centre at events)

This role requires a minimum weekly commitment of 6 hours per week (this may be split across 2 days), and usually include a Saturday afternoon/evening.

During quiet periods, we may request promotions / marketing assistants to work in other areas of the business, such request will always be optional.

As the centre and projects grow, paid work will be available and volunteers / interns who have impressed the management will be at the front of the queue.

Person Specification: 

An enthusiastic, positive minded individual used to working both in a team and independently.
Able to be flexible with the demands of the job and to be able to think creatively, with a passion for seeing their ideas successfully come to fruition.

Essential Skills : 

Knowledge of / direct experience using the different social media outlets
Knowledge of / direct experience in traditional marketing
Excellent written/ very good verbal English
Knowledge of / direct experience in SEO
A desire to both contribute to, and learn from a growing organisation
IT literate
An interest in live and dance music/spoken word/ the arts

Desirable Skills 

Direct experience usilising social media for an organisation
Direct experience setting up a social media presence
Direct experience usilising social media to promote an event
Currently studying Digital Marketing or similar
Interest in dance / live / alternative / world music
Owns own laptop computer
